Best local knowledge and storytelling in the genre...

Mr. Blake’s work is often accurately described as fast-paced with plenty of twists and excellent plotting. I couldn’t agree more. One thing I rarely hear mentioned, and for which I think he deserves the utmost praise, is his local knowledge.
I live in Ukraine. Mr. Blake’s descriptions from the opening scene in the port town of Odessa are so spot on it is apparent that he’s familiar with the area. Not in the Google Maps way, either. It’s 100% authentic.
Descriptions ranging from landscape, mood, to the nuances of the people. He did it with his use of English word choices for the British characters in JET - Ops Files II, and he does it here again throughout this book. (Surely he does it in all his other books as well. These are the only two I’ve read in this series, although that’s about to change.)
He even knows about Varna. An “interesting” beach city with beautiful women and mafia connections ranging all the way down to Sunny Beach, where Dutch kids party the night away in mafia discos.
This book is another winner.
No spoilers, but it’s safe to say if you’re a fan of Blake’s writing then he’s definitely delivered the perfect gift on Christmas morning.
Thank you, Mr. Blake, for another excellent read packed with local knowledge. If I spot you at Arcadia one summer’s evening enjoying the nightlife I promise not to blow your cover. And when the bottle of tequila mysteriously arrives at your table please consider it a gesture of gratitude. Salud!

The semblance of a normal life in Kosovo for Jet, Hannah and Matt comes to an end in a hurry. They had multiple contingency plans in place but events happened so quickly that time was of the essence. Thank goodness that Hannah is so precocious for her three and a half years.
Starting with an explosion and a cruise ship in Odessa, Ukraine, this book heads to the Central African Republic, to Moscow and Kosovo. Toss in the CIA Headquarters in VA for the added complexity to the plot. Syria and ISIS along with Simon Mandolfo (16 year veteran of the CIA) also have an impact on the novel. The Ukranian aspect of it was most interesting with the events that have transpired recently. Toss in a plane, a train, a motorcycle and a bicycle for some interesting travel modes..
The action in this book never stops. Honestly the only time I could catch my breath was when Jet was running away from the danger and I thought she would be relatively safe for a few minutes. Incredible scenes on nearly every page and danger lurks around every corner.
This is an engrossing read filled with both intriguing and interesting characters. It captivates your attention from the first page and holds it until the last. Suspense will keep you on the edge of your chair and it is a thriller with so many people and countries involved in the plot.
I think this is the best one yet of the 'Jet' series. Just think about this....my Christmas dinner was 2 hours late as I had to finish this book to see how it ended!! Thanks for that, Mr. Blake!! And, now I am waiting for the next one in this series...

Another Great Jet Story

I really happy that Jet, Matt and Hannah had finally found the peace they'd sought. But when I heard there was going to be a tenth book, I had mixed emotions. How much more can she be tortured? Well, I bought it when it came out and found out. It was as a good a read as the first nine. Now I'm not sure I want this series to end, though it would be nice to a happily ever after, but life isn't always like that. If there is a volume 11, I'll definitely read it.
