Wish it was longer, but liked what was there

Stealing from ISIS: An Ex-SAS Special forces mercenary short story- A former Special Air Service soldier now a mercenary is hired by an Iranian businessman to find hidden ancient Persian gold in ISIS territory.
Not bad for a short story. It managed to get a fair amount of story into the shorter pages. Even though I liked it, I wish it had more pages because there was room for so much more. That said let me say this, it had action, bad guys, good guys and guys that fell somewhere in the middle. There is even one young girl who is part of the fight. She has had to develop fighting skills because of the area that she lives in. I also thought that the war weary man named Richard was also well written to show him also as an action junkie. He wasn't sure that his luck was going to hold when it came to staying alive, but he just thrived on the adrenaline. It was his normal, he just couldn't seem to kick it. The treasures and the weapons used seemed to be well detailed as well. Of course it would have been nice to be able to go a bit deeper with the personalities of the people but what was there was okay.
There is also a fairly generous intro into the book,"Kingdom of Assassins" at the end of this book.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written historical fiction middle eastern crime book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great written middle eastern crime movie, or mini TV series. It was just OK for me so I will rate it at 4/5 stars.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The story was continuous action, with an unexpected twist at the end. Stealing from Isis is a fast paced ex-special forces short story that was pretty well thought out. Mackenzie knows about weapons, so if you are into weapons you will enjoy this book. I like reading stories that have strong characters, and this one certainly has that. This is the type of book that could be turned into a movie if only the story line was longer. ISIS being in the forefront of the news certainly helped me stay engrossed in the plot. This was a great book since there were so many directions it could have gone into. I wish it had been longer because there was room for so much more depth.I found this story to be a great read and will recommend it to the book club that I belong to.
