Non-stop Action!

One of the joys that comes with reading a lot is discovering a new author. That's how I felt a few years ago when I read Randy Mixter's memoir of serving in Vietnam. I really enjoyed his story which was based on letters he had sent to his girlfriend back home. I thought he had an original and genuine voice and his memoirs could have easily been a novel.
Of course, Mixter didn't stop there. He continued to write, turning out one book after another; each one highlighting Mixter's unique voice and storytelling prowess. (check out Sarah of the Moon or Swan Loch and you'll know what I'm talking about.)
What I've enjoyed most about Mixter's writing is that he's not afraid to tackle a new genre. One of the genres that he tried his hand at was a sea adventure tale, Scarlet and Gold. I've always been a big fan of swashbuckling pirate tales long before Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow became a household name having grown up watching Errol Flynn swashbucklers. I was immediately drawn in by the story's premise and the lead character, Rachel Cain.
Now, Mixter is back again with the exciting conclusion to his pirate wars trilogy, Fire and Thunder. Like the previous two books, the action is swift and non-stop. The dialogue is edgy and the characters memorable. There are more than enough twists in the story to keep you on edge and turning one page after another.
Fire and Thunder is another tour de force from Randy Mixter. Read it today!

Great Action and Adventure!

What a fast-moving story! This is Randy Mixter's third pirate adventure involving Rachel Cain and her husband Morgan. As usual with all of Mr. Mixter's books, this story is highly descriptive. I felt as if I was watching a movie! The action is non-stop so the book is hard to put down. Many bands of pirates form allegiances to others but then double-cross them to gain more ships, power, and ultimately the kingdom of Cambridge and the gold hidden in the castle. Rachel and Morgan find themselves right in the middle of the sea and land battles, in their efforts to help the king. If you enjoy lots of action and pirate adventures, this is the book for you!

Another Mixter Masterpiece.

From cover to cover this final installment of the pirate trilogy kept me enthralled with the turn of each page. Randy Mixter has created a masterpiece with Fire and Thunder. Sadly, I was really getting to love all the characters, plots and settings of the pirate world, and now it is over. I sure hope Randy has some more fun works in process. The action was very fast paced, the dialogue and characters were very believable and I found myself being transported to that long ago era. To me, this was the best book of the trilogy and I salute you, my friend, for entertaining me with all your wonderful books and short stories.
