About the Author
CJ East studied American Literature in more than a few undergraduate schools. He used his literature degree to establish himself as a clerk in a used book store. Further drawing on his tutelage, CJ picked up a book titled, "Teach Yourself" programming book, and became a software developer. He now is a Solution Architect and justifies the English degree by insisting on calling his act of designing databases "world building" and writing code as "plot development". CJ has a sensitive creamy nougat center wrapped in hard, crusty exoskeleton. Adolescence was most comparable to a gladiator camp, with flashes of shimmering spiritual beauty. College was nomadic and Spartan. Many years were spent pursuing The Meaning of Man. Specifically on a 5,000 mile bicycle trip down the Western Coast and concluding in Orlando. He found the love of his life, wooed, and married her. She bore him four daughters and he currently is in the season of pursuing The Meaning of Woman. His destiny is to be perpetually confused, always wrong and more often than not insensitive and inappropriate. CJ now spends his time working, writing, camping and teaching his adolescent girls how to thrust a ball point pen into the jugular to thwart unwelcome advances by dopey adolescent boys raised in gladiator camps. CJ's pantheon of literature heroes include Kerouac, London, Hemingway, Brautigan and Tolstoy. There are many current authors he enjoys including Howey, Martel and Riddle. CJ East is interested in the exploration of Ultimate Truth - whether it be scientific, spiritual, emotional or cultural. He writes because it is the best way to learn and stay curious.

Only one man could have written Orphans of Middle Mars, and that man is C.J. East.
East's debut novel is a vivid tale of perilous adventure, heroic struggle, and profound moral relevance.
An ideal choice for the young-adult reader, Orphans of Middle Mars both moves and moves.

You won't be disappointed!

This is absolutely one of my favorite books! Excellent plot twists, unique story line. I really like being surprised when I read a book. LOTS of action, great characters. I find myself skipping paragraphs in 90% of the books I read - not so with Orphans of Middle Mars. I could not put this book down. I'm usually more of spy/police thriller reader, but this had me hooked. I read this book as CJ East released each part. Don't do what I did because the cliffhangers are brutal. This is one wild roller coaster ride, but it will also make you think about your own life and the important choices you have to make along the way.
... so, when is volume 2 coming out???

Highly Recommend this Si-Fi Trip!

I had a blast reading this book section by section in the pre-release format. So excited for my hardcopy to come in so I can experience it all again at one time. I'm not a big book worm and Si-Fi usually loses me as I tend to be very literal minded but this book had me glued. So many aspects and struggles in this book I see in my own life. I recommend it to anyone looking for that adventure outside of their general comfort zone. Bravo!
