Very action packed, beautiful art, and a glimpse of a massive new universe.

Overall a great read. Bevan and London do a nice job of providing a brief introduction to the main characters and enriching it with quick action and little apology. For those looking for detailed exposition, this is not the comic for you—the story gives a very brief set-up and immediately dives right in to the humor, the action, and the drama. It is evident in the writing that there exists a rich universe rich for the reader to explore and learn about as the plot progresses, but it is subtle and not easily identifiable.
Bevan and London have made the smart move of moving the large chunk of universe lore off of the comic book and into the digital and multimedia space of their website. Rather than spending countless potentially boring pages detailing out the lengthy backstories, character introductions, and explanations of the setting, the authors open quick into the action. Just about everything is introduced in context, from names to missions to enemies and locations, thus allowing the reader take the story in stride without having to pull up a map or a timeline. More importantly if the reader to actually do so, it appears that much of that extra information lives readily accessible online.
Unfortunately not much of this "expanded online universe" is referenced to other than in fine print at the beginning of the comic, and perhaps readers don't want to go through the trouble of having to go to a second source of information. Personally I believe that for now, the reader can make due without it and let the story evolve on its own.

I have definitely read my fair share of comics over the years, and feel that this definitely has a chance to be a winner. The art is bright, and explodes off the page, catching your eye immediately. The action sequences are beautifully done, and I'm super pumped to see what Eltoreq can do! He seems like a bad ass. Can't wait for issue #2!
