Pamela Horner lives in Bedford, Indiana. She has taught English for over twenty years to middle school students. She enjoys reading several different genres but truly has a pull toward historical fiction since it teaches a lot of accurate information but in a more interesting format. She has a YA fantasy collection of short stories out called "Rats, Pumpkins, and Other Rumors" and has also written her first YA historical fiction novel, Acts of Courage. A must read for children and adults

Pamela Horner has done a wonderful job combining history and present day in this story of a child struggling to cope with dyslexia. You will be whisked back in time with Fen as he joins George Rogers Clark on his incredible journey during the Revolutionary War. You will feel yourself rooting for Fen as he learns that dyslexia does not have to keep him from doing amazing things. Fen is a great role model for any child who is struggling with a learning disability. I can't wait to see what Fen does next.

Enjoyable read

I am the first to admit, history wasn't my favorite subject in school. I debated reading a book even history related in fear it would bore me. This book is far from boring. This book takes you on an adventure! I have a daughter in middle school who I will be introducing this book to because I think it is a great learning tool. I recommend this book to people of all ages.
