About the Author
M. L. Ayer and her younger sister Bet were born in Thailand and grew up in Thailand, Hong Kong and the UK. "I read everything I could get my hands on," says M. L. Ayer, "and would turn around and tell the stories to my sister. Whenever we could, we would have 'adventure days' and go out looking for adventures on the way home from the library or the school bus stop." Today, M. L. Ayer lives and works in Seattle, WA and her sister Bet works as a graphic designer out of her home in rural Sussex in England.

A Fun Read for the Family

I'm proud to be the first reviewer of Ms. Ayer's book. This is a lighthearted, exciting story of a boy living on the edge of a magical faerie kingdom--without really knowing it. By accident, (his pet chicken escapes while being walked on a yarn leash) he discovers a vast cavern of treasure beneath the hillside near his home. We're taken into Simon's world of legos and Dr. Who and loving parents that let him and his friends explore and ultimately discover that one of their closest friends is one of the Fae. I would recommend this book for anyone who can read--it's an exciting frolic of innocent fun and surprises.

Though this book is for children, it will be enjoyed by young and old alike because it is so well-written. It will make a wonderful summer read for children as the characters are believable yet quite magical.

Great introduction to the Fantasy genre for young readers!

An enjoyable read for the whole family! I enjoyed the English setting & learning a bit about how they live, work and play on the other side of the 'pond'. A purchase for my 10 year old granddaughter, she liked the story and was fascinated by the artful blend of modern day and fantasy. We both hope to see more work by this talented author.
