About the Author
Jordan J. Scavone created his first picture book at about six years old. This first book, written and drawn (well, stenciled), was titled The Animals Look For Food. It was about, well, animals looking for food. Though not the most well-thought-out (or well written) book of all time, this did plant seeds for the future. After receiving his undergraduate degree in Childrens Literature and Theater for the Young from Eastern Michigan University, Jordan began working on his first picture book.

A Might-E Winner!

Even kids who don't go to day care will relate to "Might-E", because it deals with shyness and meeting new people, and who hasn't been in a situation like that? Jordan J. Scavone has created an engaging title character with a loving dad who encourages her to be herself -- whoever that self is on any given day. The illustrations are very good and keep the story moving. Kids will like this story, and grown-ups will enjoy reading it to them.

A wonderful story for your little hero who may be reluctant to start preschool. Young children will relate to Emma's fear of new places and experiences and see that with a little ingenuity we all can overcome our fears.

Be Might-E! By getting this book!

Having worked at a daycare for over 5 years, I can say that this book hits the nail on the head with its content. Many kids (and parents!) start their first day feeling nervous and shy--just like Emma, the protagonist. Might-E! Is such a great book for anyone (parent or child) starting in daycare, preschool, etc. and I recommend it to anyone that's getting ready to enroll a child--including the families at my daycare! The book will sure to be a great way for parents and other family members to sit down and talk about how to be brave; be Might-E! towards any new situation they find themselves in! Scavone's first children's book is a wonderful read with great illustrations; it is sure to settle any tummies filled with butterflies for their first day anywhere! :)
