Erik Hamre does it again -- another fast-paced, thought-provoking book that melds great fiction with fascinating facts. Day 50 was a fitting and nicely done sequel. Here's hoping there's a Book 3!

Another Good Read by Hamre!

I like this conclusion of this thought provoking near-reailty series. I regret giving 4-Stars because of the book's ending set in an Ancient Argentine Jungle Temple. The are neither Ancient Ruins OR Jungles in Argentina. Towering crags, Glaciers and Deserts mainly. Nazi bunkers ... probably. UFO and New Age Believers ... Certainly. I have lived there. Ayhuasca can be found in Argentina but it is native to the Amazon and has been ex worldwide. "Aya" only grows in the Amazon rainforest. It is commonly mixed with "Chacrona" (Cat's Claw) and boiled to increase the DMT content. For me, it would have have had seamless realism to have used the upper Amazon City, Iquitos, Peru's environs where most of Ayahuasca tourism flourishes or perhaps Manaus in Central Amazonia. Still no Temples in Argentina (the Hippies visit UFO sightings areas) unless you count "Crystal Skull" Lost Cities of Brazil legends and the occasional reports of large overgrown circular ruin traces north of the Amazon River taken from Satellite photos. The bulk of South American Ruins are of Inca and Pre-Inca civilizations extending through Ecuador and Peru, esp Peru. Farther north, the Ciudad Perdida - the Lost City, in Colombia has discovered Circular Ruinas. They are believed to be the foundations of large communal buildings which can be visited by a multi-day guided Trek.
Reminiscent of mixing up Central American Mayans with South American Incas. That ploy was used successfully in the Indiana Jones Chronicles -- also out of place in this consensus reality.
Still POINTS for using Argentina and Uruguay! Again, my apologises for being critical of a good book - "My Backyard" extends from Mexicó, Central and South America, know my entheogens, Jungles and Ruins and have had a long medical and military background. Therefore I enjoyed this series and this book, despite a critique. Hoping to see Alejandro claw his way out of the grave and for "The DMT Adventures" to Continue .

Four stars as there were some passages I found annoying.
