About the Author
Siri Chateaubriand was born in Denmark, but early on fell in love with the English language. She lived in England, Ireland and the United States, until a charming Brazilian logician lured her to his country. She loves living in Rio de Janeiro with her husband and two big dogs, and has based this book on her many experiences as an ex-pat. This is her first novel and she is currently working on a sequel.

A really good read!

This is a really good read. I purchased the book at 10pm yesterday and it held my attention and curiosity until the final page, around 2:15am! The story is nicely developed and very well written with an engaging plot (and subplots) and convincing characters and dialogue. Wonderful debut novel by a gifted writer. I look forward to the follow-up!

This is an excellent mystery that both satisfies the requirements of the genre and also transcends them. The characters are really fresh and the story is unpredictable and fun. I love the Brazilian setting, which the author knows from the inside out and presents to the reader in a fascinating and uncliched way. I would recommend this highly to anyone who likes a good mystery and/or a character driven novel. Since I like both, this book appeals to me on so many levels. Can't wait to see what this author writes next!

High stakes in Rio

Mattie, a recent American divorcée, finds herself embroiled in circumstances that involve not only a woman she hit with her car, but also her nefarious stepfather, and the Brazilian Mafia. This is a colorful, tropical mystery, laced with unique characters. Lots of danger. Lots of twists and turns. Lots of action and adventure. If you are drawn to exotic, mystery-thrillers, I would recommend this one!
