Obi the Super Puppy and the Mystery of the Red Mist is the story of my beautiful Labrador Obi. Obi has a heart of gold and loves to make children (and adults) smile. He is an absolute clown, but is very clever. Obi works with me at Labs 'n Life, where he thinks he is in charge of a super hero boot camp for Labradors. Obi has a complete belief that all is right with the world because it contains him. He's probably right about that.
I wrote Obi's first adventure to share him with more children. I have seen him put a smile on even the most troubled young person. He has an amazing sense of what people need to feel happy and will always find that person who needs him the most. I wanted to share him with the world, because he is very special.
I am currently writing the second in this series which will introduce some more amazing characters. These include Stitch (the pup in my author photo), who has been trained by Obi. The second books will be called Obi the Super Puppy and the Quest for the Last Laugh!

About the Author
Ashley Howland lives in Adelaide, South Australia with her husband Ross, two daughters, Maddy and Aijay, and her two spoilt Labradors, Obi and Stitch. Her girls inspire her every day to write children's books and the dogs often provide the material. Ashley also works as the curriculum manager for Labs 'n Life. This requires random extra Labradors to appear in their lives and of course in Ashley's stories.

'Obi the super puppy and the mystery of the red mist'

Children will love this book and it also teaches them in a very interesting and humorous way.
Obi has typical Labrador behaviour but has such special talents as well. In this book you see the world through Obi's eyes and thoughts. I'm sure anyone who owns a dog, or has ever owned one will appreciate the way this story has been written, and will be able to identify with it.
The two children, Maddy and Aijay keep it interesting with their banter, and questions and answers to Obi.
We are kept wondering what the mysterious red mist is all the way through, right until the end. The evil birds and their evil leader will make children laugh! It's just how a dog would react to screeching birds. You feel that you really believe Obi's words!
The pictures will also keep children interested.
The other dogs: Max and the fox terrier, Richard and poor GSP bring extra interest. It is so nice to find that GSP finds a family through Obi. So Obi really is a true hero in the end.
This book would make a wonderful gift for children of all ages, even adults too!
I would thoroughly recommend it especially if you love dogs...

Charming children's fantasy

The Author has written a charming children's fantasy story about her two daughters Aijay and Maddy, and their yellow Labrador dog Obi (Named after Obi-Wan Kenobi). The story is one long conversation between the girls and their dog, with the dog's tale of the "evil red mist" woven into the conversation.
At first it was a little difficult to get used to the two stories running in parallel - the girl's conversation with Obi and Obi's story, which is written in italic. However, when one gets used to this swapping back and forth between the two story lines, it actually works really well.
The conversation between the girls and their dog is sparkling, and often makes you smile. The pace of the story is good, and the reader will keep wondering what the "evil red mist" is all about - right to the very end.
Finally, the book has beautiful pictures of Obi throughout, which adds an extra dimension to the story, and which I am sure will delight and interest a young audience.

Adorable :)

I must admit I'm a sucker anyway for anything cute and furry, so Obi the Super Puppy was right up my alley! The storyline was funny and interesting and I loved getting to see things from different perspectives, that of Obi himself and of Maddy & Aijay (two children from the family that adopted him). The dialogue between Obi, Maddy and Aijay was the most entertaining part of the book for me. I loved how they picked on each other and had fun, but without being mean or hurtful. The adorable puppy pictures throughout the book definitely add visual appeal and more cuteness as well! Overall, this is a great pick for young animal lovers!
