Along with being a writer, CHRIS KREIE is an elementary teacher. He lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota with his wife, two children, a dog and a cat. Fun, engaging book for middle grade kids!

"Casey KC" is an engaging story where the main character, Casey, lives the dream of playing professional baseball. The twist is that Casey, a baseball phenom, is only 12 years old when he enters the major league. The story feels very real and the pages turn fast when Casey is thrown into an adult world. We root for Casey when he does well, and are there for him when things fall apart. This book speaks to us about life and growing up; it is about friendship, hard work, difficult choices, disappointment and being yourself. I am not a baseball fan, yet I found this book to be a very fun and interesting read. The subtle humor and realistic feel make it a wonderful book. "Casey KC" is a fast, enjoyable read. I recommended it be placed on our school's "good reads" list.

Great, imaginative read.

I'd grown disenchanted with kids' literature as of late. Seems whatever age level book you pick up, you're confronted with broken homes, violence, werewolves, too-mature-for-the-age content. Casey KC is a breath of fresh air because it unabashedly allows kids to be kids. Casey is a prodigy, a little cocky and he's thrust into the adult world of professional baseball. We learn that Casey is vulnerable, needing the adult guidance of his father and a teammate and confidante. Without giving too much away, our hero learns that there's merit to being a kid and adulthood is nothing to rush.
Chris Krie has a gift for bringing the reader into a child's world. I can't recommend this book enough for people who want to present their kids with a book suitable for their age level, teaching them that dreams do come true...and sometimes the dream is simpler and more attainable than you thought.

Great for baseball fans!

This is a great book, especially for baseball fans. As a 4th grade teacher, I am always looking for books for my reluctant readers or my students who love sports, and this exciting book fits the bill!
The book has strong important messages about friendship, childhood, and growing up that are woven into a fast-paced story that will delight young people, especially baseball fans. It even had me wondering what would happen!
