I Wanted More... Too Short (But a Great Story)

I ordered this book after a friend recommended it, and, I'll admit, I enjoyed it. And I'm 44 years old.
Why only 4 stars? I wanted it to be longer. I really did. And I wanted it to focus more on the main character, Pablo. Or, at least, develop the characters more and fill in some time gaps. Yes, I realize it's a children's story. Should that matter?
Instead, this 28-page book (it's rather thin) opened with child Pablo's first train ride with his mother on page 1, jumps to Pablo as an grandfather on page 13, changes point-of-view to his grandson on page 16, and ends again with Pablo on page 25.
The actual story is great. Family, adventure, and rediscovery. I just wish it were longer.
As an aside? The illustrations are BEAUTIFUL. Wow. Kudos to the artist.

The Forgotten Train Station is a refreshingly new perspective in children's writing - and in addition it is beautifully illustrated. Entertaining yet educational - reminds me of the things I found interesting in my childhood.

I love this book and I love this author! She has done a great job writing a book that is engaging and informative for kids. I teach 3rd grade and my kids loved it!
