Beautiful Illustrations & Story

I LOVE this book for three main reasons:
1) It's based on a true story. When I saw the photo of the newspaper clipping of the author with his dad when he was a boy, it brought everything to life for me in a different way.
2) (Related to that) The characters in the story are now the author and illustrators! It makes me think how it would be pretty amazing to work on a project like that with my daughter someday, but I guess I've got a while to wait since she's only four. This is the time to make the memories, I guess :-)
3) The illustrations truly convey the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. In fact, looking at them made me want to go back there for a visit really bad. If you have ever been there on the water, you'll know what I mean when you see the book.

A truly wonderful story

I have seen this book go through multiple changes - even major changes to incorporate more rising action - but throughout the publishing process it has always stayed true to telling the story of how the act of fishing brought a father and son together in a very special way. It is the story of two dad's (my dad and grandfather) in which their love of fishing is brought to life by their love of painting. If you look past the story and the artwork, you can see the love of a dad and his son; a dad who taught his son how to fish, and a son who learned watercolor painting from his dad.

I enjoyed this book

I enjoyed this book, especially because of the illustrations. Each picture brought to life a specific scene with more depth and color. As someone who grew up in the PNW, I have similar memories that I hold near and dear to my heart to this day. I Remember Fishing With Dad brought to mind my own memories, also with the backdrop of majestic tree lines lining small island towns. Great read for every pacific northwester and their children! Beautiful book - both words and illustrations.
