Review
"Donchatz writes with a slight over-the-top edge and it works well for empowering a short novel. The overall pace is quick and a lot has to happen, which gives the author less time for character development. But Donchatz handles the balance perfectly, allowing enough space for thrills, action, and some romance. Everything starts early on and it keeps running straight till the end.  It's a thrill ride that focuses on the adventure and adding something different to something so well-known. Readers who are looking for a little bit of everything, this is the book for you." -HORRORPALACE.COM

From the Author
I wrote this book because, quite frankly, I love monster books.  Not the current trend in "entertainment" where monsters are not monstrous, where heroes cry a lot and villains cry even more.

Villains should be villains.  They don't cry or whine, or second guess their agenda.  Those are the things that make them villains.  So I started with a villain.  Likewise, heroes should be heroic, not someone you or I could beat up, and certainly not someone who is coming to grips with puberty or adulthood or whatever.  I wanted a hero in the old school sense.  A man of action, a man compelled to that action.

The book is also a throwback to those great action paperback books of my youth, before every publisher thought every reader wanted seven volumes of mostly filler and worlds that are so complex it doesn't even matter if you know about them anyway.  I wanted a quick, sharp and most importantly, an entertaining read.

Thus was born Wolves of the Land.

A book you can read in a single stormy evening, an unlikely hero who isn't a teenager, and a villain who is, above all, a villain.

Enjoy.

Historical Fiction with Werewolves
By Tea, Herb & Milk Soaps
There's a creeping, tingly, sometimes gnawing sensation that takes place when I embark on a journey through a book of this genre, where I know I'm being lead down a path that will be exciting, and somewhat terrifying if I continue. This book starts with a sense of foreboding where the good sense of the first character, the Colonel, had he followed it, would have caused him not to take this trip. But he's caught between a hard place and a harder place, so he takes, what he thinks, is the somewhat safer route. However, had he chosen not to take the "safer" trip, his end would have been the same, just a different method.

Donchatz packs a lot into this short story. So much so that instead of my plan to read a chapter or two, then resuming at another time, "Wolves ..." proved to be one of those books that you can't put down or if you do, waiting for the next opportunity to continue this read. My only complaint is that when I reached the end of the book, I found myself continually swiping to move on to the next page, because there is definitely more of this story to tell, and Donschatz is up to the task with his excellent writing, especially in moving back and forth in time, and keeping us aware of other events that are happening at the same time.

Readers understand becoming so engrossed in a story that we feel we become part of the story, or, we are in the presence of the characters as events play out. I had planned to remain on this journey longer, while watching (safely from a distance) the characters and the story reach their final conclusion of the book. Not yet. [...]

NOTE: I was given a copy of Wolves of the Land by the author. However, my review is based on my own impression of this book, as all of my book reviews are. I have no problem giving a bad review if the book deserves one, in my opinion. And, in my opinion as a lover of books, Wolves of the Land deserves the rating I gave it. [...]

A great mix! I am not a big Werewolf fan ...
By Jon Spielman
What a mix! Take World War Two, The reign of the Nazis, add Adolf Hitler, Crazed doctors, Human Experiments and then just to top it all off.. Throw in a helping of Werewolves!.. A great mix! I am not a big Werewolf fan normally, but this was a good story, and a good twist on the werewolf saga to be sure. Story is well written, and reads smoothly. Characters, are well defined, setting beautifully described, and enough action, and plot twists to keep you guessing and reading! Well done! Hoping for book two now!
