A heroine on the run who finds a really sweet mate that will fight to the death for her, a HEA and a surprising hero. I loved it

I love Kim Fox's books and Bare Knuckle Grizzly is the second in her new Ultimate Shifting Championship series. I was given a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review and despite not particularly liking any kind of organised fight, especially things like cage fighting, I thoroughly enjoyed this gritty paranormal romance. I really didn't want to put it down, although there were bits where I cringed and wished that I could, like the heroine, turn my head away so I wouldn't see what was happening the same way I would if it was a movie, but that would have meant missing a couple of fairly big, if somewhat graphic, chunks of the book.
Brooke Jones came to Laughlin City hoping to hide out in the middle of nowhere with her brother Jack for a while. She broke up with her violent and psycho ex-boyfriend, werelion alpha, Alex, but he threatened that he'd never let her go or stop looking for her, so she fled. She quickly makes friends with server Dakota and barman Luke at the Bar Knuckle. She also meets her brother's friends, Grayson, Wyatt and Hunter, who falls for Brooke immediately, offers to give up his cabin so she'll have somewhere to stay, and having been warned off by Jack, opts to sleep in a tent outside in the snow just so he can be close to her.
But the next day, Alex turns up at Bar Knuckle.....
I can't really say any more without giving spoilers, but apart from the gory cage fights, this was a really great paranormal romance with lots of steam, a heroine who finally finds a mate who loves her, a hero who is sweet, kind, loving and will fight to the death to protect her, a violent ex who won't let go, a fantastic cast of characters which includes a brief appearance by a Great White Shark shifter, a really surprising hero who sacrifices himself so Hunter and Brooke can have their happily ever after, as well as a new and very surprising character who appears right at the end of the book. I really can't wait for the next one in this fantastic series, but that said, I am a bit squeamish and don't particularly like the cage fight scenes.

Does true love prevail over Big BAD Lion Shifter?

Kim Fox really did a GREAT job on this book. You laugh, you cry, you get mad, and then you want to beat the crap out of an arrogant line shifter. Kim did a good job of introducing the characters and she even brought back characters from the first book that we liked so much. By doing this she introduced the "Big Bang Theory." The book starts with a bang and and ends with a bang. I predict a best seller.
Grizzly bear shifter, Hunter Stevens, has just bonded to the newest waitress at the Bar Knuckle. She is curvy and beautiful and the younger sister of one of his best friend, Jack doesn't like the way Hunter s looking at his sister. So Jack tells him that his sister is "hands off." No matter, Hunter bonds with Jack's sister in the bar. Everybody witness's this except Jack. This could make things a little bit awkward between Jack and Hunter.
Brooke Jones is a Bear Shifter like her brother Jack. Sh is running from her abusive ex. She’s hiding out in the secluded Laughlin City with her over protective brother and his buddies. She’s likes being in Laughlin City, until she awakens from her dream of Hunter and her worst nightmare has come to town.
Brooke ’and Hunter's lives are thrown into chaos when Brooke's past catches up to her. Her past is a mean and huge,Lion Shifter, and he threatens the the lives of everyone she loves. Hunter and his Grizzly bear will have to step in the metal cage and fight for a mate who he is forbidden to be with. Does the hero win this bout? Or does Brooke have face the reality of her past?
Not gonna give away any Secrets. You have to read the book to find out what happens to Hunter, Brooke and everyone at the Bar Knuckle.

So Good, Can't Wait For the Next Installment!! :)

I was gifted a copy of this book for an open and honest review.
Another bare Knuckle story, this time about Hunter, a Grizzly Bear, friends with Grayson and Jack, along with a couple others from their little group of merry Shifters. :)
Jack’s sister Brooke suddenly shows up, making fast friends with Dakota, as she waits for her brother to arrive from work. While he’s pleased to see her he realizes there has to be more to her visit.
Turns out Brooke has fled a nasty possessive Lion Shifter - Alex, an X boyfriend, who does not take the word ‘No’ well. And nasty he is, putting a Gorilla out and another Shifter who attempt to fight him in the Cage.
After Hunter and Brooke bond, they are back at the Bar where Alex wants to fight Hunter to take Brooke back with him. If you’ve read the first Bare Knuckle book you will know it’s pretty nasty in the Cage. It’s tense, on the edge of your seat fighting this time round and they do go the full three rounds.
You need to read the book to see how it all pans out. Sadly there is a loss, the Old Rhino is shot and despite the animosity towards him, there is genuine grief in his loss and support for Hunter and Brooke.
There are parts that have the necessary humour and it’s fun, the budding relationship between the two mates and the protective brother. Still makes me chuckle. The ending had me laughing. Poor Brad, his worst nightmare has arrived and god help Jack’s path to love and his mate!! Now that will be, should be a funny read I hope!
It’s a steady paced read and very enjoyable along with a great series. I can’t wait for the next installment! :)
