About the Author
Sandy’s passions are gardening, writing, reading, and traveling. Taking a break from writing children’s gardening books, Sandy instead focused on these fictionalized 1920s short stories about her maternal grandmother and eight children. Her interest in this era harkens back to 9th grade when she wrote an extensive term paper on the 1920s’ clothing, dances, Prohibition, gangsters, Stock Market Crash, and Women’s Suffrage. In between writing and reading, her major gardening project entails removing their front lawn and replacing it with mulch and 24 Provence lavender plants. Sandy has been a Sonoma County Master Gardener for 15 years. She is now president of Redwood Writers, the largest branch of the California Writers Club. Her other books include Mrs. Feeny and the Grubby Garden Gang, Zack's Zany Zucchiniland, The Dead Butterflies Diary, Color My Garden, Colorea Mi Jardin, Howie's Hungabird Dilemma, Three Sisters Garden, Gai's Go-Away-Come Back Garden, and The Tehran Triangle (with Tom Reed).

Just Imagine!

I was in heaven. These fun adventures brought me back to my childhood and Mrs. Piggle Wiggle stories...and that's a compliment. Baker has a nack for getting at the heart of being a kid, whether in trouble or getting ready to start same. It's the 1920's and their mom, single, is trying to keep her eight children and a hotel a float. Just imagine the antics that Carrie and Laurie get up to as they interact with guests and help with chores.
This book is for youngsters, which I am not, but it was just so much fun!

I absolutely love this book! A friend had purchased it, and recommended it to me, so I bought a copy for my son. He loves the story, and enjoys the graphics a lot. I've read it to him every night at bedtime, and he doesn't get tired of it. From a father's standpoint, I love the informative content, and the fact the book makes eating fruits and vegetables the "cool" thing to do! I definitely recommend anyone with young kids to buy this book! Thank you, Fallon Lak! Looking forward to your next publication!

Being highly recommended by a friend I bought this book. Like so many kids Tommy hates fruits and vegetables. I was pleasantly surprised as the colorful vegetables came to life arguing their case. The story and illustrations are wonderful! It's an easy read and a must have if you want your kids to learn more about the benefits of fruit and vegetables. I must say my favorite character is the singing cucumber!

Another Great Rigney Page Book

As a retired USN Radioman with 30 years of service I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The author knows his stuff about being a Radioman, and being in the Navy. The intelligence capers that Senior Chief Page gets into are a bit far-fetched, but what the heck -- it's a fun read.

As an Ex-Submarine RM!(SS) Radioman on both diesels and nuc's Michael's writing is spot on. I love how he is so accurate on the interactions and personalities that you find in the Navy and the day to day problems that occur. His understanding of the mindset's of the 70's are great.
One of my FB submarine groups recommended him to me a couple of weeks ago and I have now read and recommend every book Michael has written. My only complaint is I can read them faster than he can write them.

The Back Room begins as a series of short stories that later come together due to the interactions of the characters in each story as they meet. At first the story felt disjointed and confusing. There are so many individual plots I can't begin to give a summary as to an overall theme because each short story is so different and the characters are diverse.

The advertized genres, action, adventure and crime had to be stretched to the breaking point to fit, although I don't know which classification would describe the compilation of plots more accurately.

Sentence structure is poor, and the writing style is wordy. Internal thoughts need to be in italics, and past and present tense are mixed in the same sentences and paragraphs. In several of the short stories I felt the level of details was excessive and only slowed the story's progress down without adding value.
The plot is complex due to the multiple diverse stories that join together late in the story.
Some of the sentences are too long while the author also routinely injects single to several words as stand alone sentences. Additional fragments and incomplete sentences abound

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (French: Vingt mille lieues sous les mers: Tour du monde sous-marin, literally Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas: An Underwater Tour of the World) is a classic science fiction novel by French writer Jules Verne published in 1870. The novel was originally serialized from March 1869 through June 1870 in Pierre-Jules Hetzel's periodical, the Magasin d’Éducation et de Récréation. The deluxe illustrated edition, published by Hetzel in November 1871, included 111 illustrations by Alphonse de Neuville and Édouard Riou. The book was highly acclaimed when released and still is now; it is regarded as one of the premiere adventure novels and one of Verne's greatest works, along with Around the World in Eighty Days and Journey to the Center of the Earth. The description of Nemo's ship, called the Nautilus, was considered ahead of its time, as it accurately describes features on submarines, which at the time were very primitive vessels. Thus, the book has been able to age well because of its scientific theories, unlike some of Verne's other works, like Journey to the Center of the Earth, which are not scientifically accurate and serve more simply as adventure novels.

About the Author
After a lifelong obsession with books, Erica Cameron spent her college years getting credit for reading and learning how to make stories of her own. Erica graduated with a double major in psychology and creative writing from Florida State University and began pursuing a career as an author.

Her debut novel, Sing Sweet Nightingale, released March 2014 and it was the first volume of The Dream War Saga. In May 2015, Erica and her co-author Lani Woodland launched the Laguna Tides series with Taken by Chance.

Deadly Sweet Lies wasn't half as good as its predecessor

Deadly Sweet Lies wasn't half as good as its predecessor, in my opinion. The characters were kind of weak, and the little bit of world-building still wasn't sufficient, in my opinion. The writing was pretty good, but the pacing was super slow. It just didn't hold my interest as well as Sing Sweet Nightingale. I did enjoy seeing what happened to the characters of the first book, but the ending of this one really freaking sucked. I just wasn't blown away.

Nadette was a pretty strong character for the first 75% of the book or so, then she just got annoying. I liked her fine until the really bad things started happening and she acted like an entirely different, weaker character. That threw me and made me not like her as much. Julian also was obnoxious. I didn't like him from the very beginning. Lexi was pretty interesting, and I liked Aisling a lot. Other than that, the old characters were the only ones who stood out and interested me.

The pacing was super slow, and I got bored several times reading this book. Also, the world-building is still lacking. I get what's going on more, but I could have used a lot more info. It's one thing not to info dump every other page, but it's a completely different thing to not have enough information to make the story make sense. Also some random people just vanished without any explanation at the end, and characters we didn't even meet were mentioned like we were supposed to care about them. I did like that the author had characters of different sexual orientations, and I also appreciated her taking us inside the home of a neglected kid so that everyone could understand more what they went through. Along with that, the writing was pretty good, and she had some memorable quotes in there. However, the ending was awful. It's like it stopped in the middle of the story. This was like a cliffhanger on steroids, and I hated it. Not even sure if I want to read the next installment or not because of that.

Overall, this book was unique and addressed some important topics, but it just didn't blow me out of the water. I really wish there was more world-building and that the author had tied things up a bit more at the end. The novel wasn't terrible, but it wasn't fantastic, either.

An intriguing world and characters

I received this book from Netgalley and made the mistake of reading it without diving into book one first. Although it wasn't too hard to get into the plot and understand what was going on, it took a bit for me to connect to the characters--something I'm sure would have been no problem if I would have started this series from the beginning.

The first pages were a little confusing. The first, short scene was grabbing, but then it dives into a dream world, and I was lost for a moment. But this was my own fault as mentioned above.

The characters, Nadette and Julian, are up against demons which haunt dreams. Nadette is their target, but unlike many victims before her, she's not easily fooled and doesn't give in. Her uncanny ability to tell when someone is lying fits wonderfully with her personality and makes for several great moments. It was easy to like her and understand the choices she made.

Julian is determined to help Nadette, but he's not the perfect hero. In unison with Nadette's power, Julian can make people believe lies. Of course, this doesn't work so well on Nadette. This creates an interesting background and calls for obvious problems as he tries to convince her that he wants to help.

The world and set up are interesting, and after the first pages, I had little trouble falling into the story. The only problem really was the pace. It's a bit slow and dragged at times. . .which is dangerous for a reader like me who is easily distracted. But it dives into thoughts and emotions, and is perfect for those who like a calmer pace.

All in all, it's a solid read with a lot of good things despite a few hang-ups now and then. I'd give it 3.5 stars since I'm a little torn about the rating but am rounding up.

“I’ve always been able to tell when people are lying. My brain has been weird my whole life.”

This was an okay sequel, and I liked catching up with the characters from book 1.

Nadette had a pretty useful ability in this book in knowing when people were telling lies, and Julian had the interesting ability that he was able to make people believe lies!

The storyline in this was once again about defeating the demons who plagued kids dreams, and specifically about getting Nadette away from the demons who wanted her. I did like that the characters from book 1 made a cameo, but the pace was a little bit on the slow side for me.
There was some romance, although it was a sweet girl-girl romance.

The ending to this was a little surprising, and we did get an interesting twist!

A great book for teaching our kids to accept adventure and look for the good in whatever situation they find themselves in. I loved the descriptive language and use of adjectives that will surely form a mental image of Tuttle's setting in the young reader's mind. I also appreciate the link to nature this book brings as well as the author's intent to connect our kids with a good, moral story that stands in juxtaposition to so much of what kids are exposed to today. Great book! I would like to know the Zone of Proximal Development and what age group the author recommends reads this book.

It was so nice to be able to pick up a book and ...

As an adoptive mom I can't always find books all my kiddos can relate to. It was so nice to be able to pick up a book and start to read it to my kiddos who can relate to being picked up and moved to a whole new world. Watching their eyes light up as Tuttle found new friends and learned about his new world was priceless! This book should be added to a must read list for foster/adopted families. I know we all can't wait to read more about Tuttle and his friends!

Rick Bush was born in Cambridge, England. He studied filmmaking at The London Film School and spent the next nine years working as a writer and director in the film industry making very silly films. League Of Frankenstein is his first novel. He lives in Kent.

Completely Loved It!!

Can I just say how epic this story is? I'm completely flabbergasted at how brilliantly this author has taken the majority of my favorite classic characters and banded them together to fight against the daughter of Captain Hook and the evil surrounding the story.

Out of all of them, I'm still stuck with Peter Pan no matter what. Rick Bush captures the essence of these characters and weaves them together in such a way that you are left satisfied. If there is going to be a sequel, I want to know! Especially if there are more classic characters on the way.

This is a story for the ages for everyone to enjoy!

A good fiction writer is supposed to tell a story so well that you suspend disbelief. Rick Bush does neither. His 'epic' tale has Peter Pan re-animated by Victor Frankenstein after he was killed by the daughter of Captain Hook. Her name is just "Hook." She can leap between dimensions and goes both ways, as in bi-sexual. Then the book gets really silly. Bush writes like a 12 year old who has access to porn. This tripe is nothing more than derivative that is an insult to the eyes. Save your money and your time. Send "The League of Frankenstein" down to the minors.
