Won't be able to put this one down!

Cannot believe this is the author's first book?! Heard about this author first through a friend who IS a firefighter. I watched the arduous developmental process of getting the book published, etc. and ordered it as soon as it was available. Well, I waited to start it until this past Thursday and was that a mistake! My husband came home for the weekend and I could not put the book down! Instead of my walking/running, I got my hubby to walk to dogs and I rode the stationary bike so I could READ!! Wow! I was anticipating a thoughtful, but perhaps not very complex novel as sometimes local authors write enjoyable novels, in large part because of the local landmarks/terrain. This book, however, had complex characters, several twists and turns in the developing plots of local and international terrorism. I found my palms sweating at some points in the book and especially the ending-truly proving all politics is local, and perhaps international as well. Congratulations on an excellent read! Know this one took a long time to write and hope it won't be as long until your next one is published!

A great read for anyone in the Brotherhood of the Fire ...

A great read for anyone in the Brotherhood of the Fire Service with very detailed and accurate descriptions of the modern day fire service, but with enough descriptions for those not in the fire service to be able to follow along and enjoy. The International terror plot gets your attention very early in the book and keeps it to the very last page. A great suspense thriller that takes you from a suburban County in Central Virginia to the Middle East and back. Michael Brigati writes like a seasoned novelist, you would never know that this was his first book. I don't recommend starting this book if you do not have time to finish it. It was difficult to put down.

Surprisingly superb!

OKAY, so i finally finished 'fire thieves', and here goes the god honest truth about what i thought about it... first of all, loved the acknowledgments at the end, obviously because i know Kristen but i also love that you mentioned your son. i'm sorry he won't get to read the finished product, but i know that he was with you along the way! second, i am extremely pleasantly surprised. and i'm a book snob, so that's saying something. i literally couldn't put it down (which got me in trouble with the boyfriend while we were moving this weekend, i STILL snuck in reading time!). extremely well written, great flow, excellent use of knowledge of the trade, and the main characters were likable and personable. i love the mention of RVA landmarks; it made it more 'real'. even if you're not from richmond, you'll feel like you know the place. i would say you're the next big upcoming 'local' author, and will eventually surpass patricia cornwall if you continue to choose to write, and i certainly hope you do, as you have a talent for it. i'm disappointed i finished this already; i look forward to reading future publications, and if you ever need a sounding board, i'd be happy to help. great job Michael Brigati, don't stop now!
