What would you do, if you inherited a billion dollars? That is the simple premise of The Tribe, an 'un' Fifty Shades of Grey story, tracing the life of one young man and what his conscience compels him to do with such riches.
Always a dreamer and driven to make this a better world, Steven decides to build a collection of cottages in the Northern California woods, his intent being to gather a group of people around him and share with them a more sustainable, pastoral lifestyle, using smart technology.
The idea seemed simple enough. Live communally on Steven’s Northern California retreat while maintaining your own separate goals and dreams. What Steven hadn’t bargained for was the unique twist his assortment of misfits and fellow dreamers would bring to his vision.
First there was Colette, a Julliard trained dancer who has spent the past five years being kicked around the lower rungs of corporate America, then Kyler, a lovable clown who’s struggling with his newfound sobriety, then Camellia, a speechless waif who recently lost her only son to a drug overdose.
In short order, Steven is surrounded by a collection of earth mothers, hippie farmers, young techies and wounded souls with only one certain thing in common. They’re all burnt out on the American dream and willing to try anything new.
The Tribe. Where love, cooperation and shared purpose is always close to the heart, where life’s challenges are no longer faced alone and dreams of a better world can actually blossom and take hold.

About the Author
The product of an Irish/Italian family, the author was transplanted as a boy from the clapboard New England of his youth to the cookie cutter, stucco subdivisions that began to litter the disappearing ranches and orange groves south of Los Angeles in the 1960s. Ever rebellious and true to the folk music/coffee house idealism that helped shape his early worldview, he chose to resist the Vietnam War, was a man without a country for several years as the result and can count incarceration in a Mexican prison as one of his many colorful experiences during that era. Having pursued a love of reading and writing in various forms all his life, he finally took this passion seriously around the turn of the millennium and has dedicated the remainder of his days to authorship. He now resides along the shore of Rhode Island, a return to the New England of his youth.

Progressive Thinking and Beautiful Storytelling!
By Andrea Davis
The Tribe follows Steven, a wealthy entrepreneur who decides to invest and run a commune in Northern California. The ‘tribe’ is filled with artists, dreamers, rovers and the like all are disenchanted by the notions of ‘The American Dream’ and ‘American Exceptionalism.’ Each character offers their unique perspective and insights to their shared project. The novel is dialogue heavy that feels natural and quickly moves the story along with excellent pacing. The characters are well thought out and autonomous in their criticisms and praises for Steven’s vision. The Tribe reminded me of Steinbeck’s East of Eden—with a bunch of people trying to work out their place in the West and their relationship to a new frontier. The author does a wonderful job of balancing the business side of creating his project with the metaphysical relationship with nature. An absolutely delightful read providing brilliant commentary on a variety of different topics both political and personal, I highly recommend this book. Great read! A++

A wonderful read.
By Betty Johnson
The Tribe is the first book I’ve read by Gary Paul Corcoran but it won’t be my last! The Tribe just drew me in, like the way Steven first runs across Colette in a café and thinks ‘this situation has shopping cart written all over it’. It turns out Colette is homeless, while Steven has billions of dollars and their ensuing adventure together epitomizes Steven’s quest to help his fellow human beings with all the money he has inherited. The cast of wonderful characters made me feel as if I had made a whole bunch of endearing new friends by the time I finished reading the book. I would recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a unique adventure and a great read!

Good read - buy this one
By Latoya Brown
I was so thrilled about this book that I didn't get a chance to share a review - I've been raving about it to others and encouraging that they buy it too. I am not familiar with the author, but this was a good read. Initially I couldn't help but be reminded of Jim Jones with the creation of the commune. I always get chills when having to revisit that part of American history. There is the similiarity of the people who decide to become a part of the tribe, which is that they all seem to be in a position of want or neediness. Besides that the book makes its own mark and is a good read. The book unfolded well with a few twists that allowed my chill to go away from the historical truth, and I started to enjoy the book. The American Dream...everyone has a version of it. I felt a certain warmness towards the characters in the end.
