Good captivating story of innocent man on the run

This is a novella by an author that has a good ability to show characters and scenes that you are quickly pulled into wanting to know more. The author's keen ability to make the reader lean forward and want to know more keeps pulling the reader into the scene. The author reveals more and more until the last page.

I found once I put the book down then looked to see if there was a sequel. There is more I want to know about the lead character. Surely he will be confronted tomorrow and the day after. I want to know how escapes from them.

Escape From Purgatory is well worth the time. But the author better be writing several more on the same character.

Great Pictures!!

What a wonderful educational tool to be discovered in this little gem of a book. Both the pictures and the facts are sure to be a great source of information for any child eager to know more about the raccoon and his habits and natural habitat. As an adult, I certainly learned many interesting facts about the male, female, and kits or cubs that I knew little about...and thoroughly enjoyed learning.

I liked the added questions offered by the author at the end of the book. This gives the young reader a better opportunity to enhance the educational experience. As a former teacher, I know that this method is an excellent way to recap all the more important points to be remembered. Good stuff!

Nice lttle education in the wildlife world

I have had raccoons around my door for years. They are clever and you should never underestimate their intelligence! I also have two stray cats who come by each day and I feed them (of course). But usually there is always some dinner left and guess what? Yeah ... the raccoon family drops by to do the dishes!

The raccoons will drop by to check out your garbage too. They love coffee grounds and egg shells along with most anything that has a food smell to it. Trouble is, they love to scatter your garbage all over the place, so I learned a little trick that works with raccoons and dogs. Buy a bottle of ammonia and a spray bottle and use that to spray your garbage just before you bag and tie it up. The ammonia will keep the raccoons from ripping and spreading the garbage all over the place as well as any critter with a sensitive nose! You will notice after a while, all the other neighbors garbage will get scattered, except yours ;)

Now to the real review;

I loved all the incredible photos this book has and the neatly arranged facts that are laid-out in the content throughout. The author has taken a lot of time to put this book together as well as he did. I loved the 'Fun Facts' and the Quiz at the end chapter of the book. It reminds me of a school text book, yet crafted cleverly into a leisure-time read!

I gave it a four star because I believe the Author needs practice. So maybe he will produce for us, another wildlife fact book!

Good overview for young people and casually interested adults

A nice, basic overview of raccoons. It covers a lot of ground, from behaviour to parasites. The simple, straightforward prose will be easy for young readers to understand while not shorting them on information.

An adult looking for an in-depth study of these animals will probably want to look elsewhere. This is a well-researched book of good length for young readers but lacks the detailed expertise an adult is probably seeing if they are fascinated enough by raccoons to want to buy a book on them.

I adored raccoons as a child (still do), and would have been in heaven if someone had given this to me to read.

I recommend viewing this book on a Kindle Fire or the Cloud Reader, because on my standard kindle the photos are small and dull. In the cloud reader they function as intended and are excellent illustrations. Your reading experience will be immeasurably better on a larger color screen.

 This is the best series I have ever read December 27, 2015
This is the best series I have ever read. I am an avid reader and have my kindle unlimited for them. This series made me want to buy each book and sit on the edge of my seat with each page turned. I have never been so engrossed in a series like this one. Each and every character is well thought out and extremely enjoyable. I love the fact that just when you think you know what is going to happen it changes to something you never even thought of. I can truly say these characters and this series will stay with me for life. I usually do not like to reread books. These books stay on my kindle and phone. To see such love, respect and consideration portrayed throughout each and every character and yet each character is unique and different. A fan for life and impatiently waiting, the next book. A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ can not give you enough stars.

About the Author
Caitlin Avery grew up outside of Boston, Massachusetts. After receiving a theater degree from the University of Colorado, she moved to Los Angeles, where she pursued an acting career for the next ten years. Her love of writing was solidified when Caitlin chronicled her attempt to find love in LA. The result was her first book, Lightning in My Wires, and a chance encounter with a fellow Bostonian who would later become her husband. After the birth of their son, the trio moved back to the East Coast in 2010. She published Lightning in My Wires that same year and got right to work on her second book. The Last Cruz is her first fictional novel. Caitlin resides with her family in Newton, Massachusetts, where she works as an in-home personal trainer. The job that was meant to supplement her acting income has become a lucrative career, and her flexible schedule allows her plenty of time to write, hike, bike, and run. A Cliffhanger -- In More Ways than One!

Calling Caitlin Avery's The Last Cruz 'a cliffhanger' is to play with mystery and metaphor the way the author does. The phrase is absolutely accurate -- both literally (my heart raced as I read those last terrifying pages!) and figuratively, as the cover graphic suggests.

The Lang sisters hope the shared adventure of a motorcycle trip will challenge their bodies, clear their heads and, maybe, heal the strained bond between them. Like most journeys, this one starts slowly as identities, histories, conflicts -- and the itinerary -- are mapped out. But as Hollywood idol Catrina, her 'Sis' and young Reyana head deep into Rey's Mexican homeland, their tires spinning in the sand and bouncing off boulders, they discover their real challenge is neither their cycles nor the roads!

The Last Cruz takes the sisters into their own hearts -- and each other's -- as well as, thanks to the stealthy 'habit' of their travel companion, the heart of Mexico's corrupt Morales drug cartel. It's a story well told, with realistic and accurate detail and tooth-gritting suspense. A worthy ride!

This book surprised me. I couldn't put the book down. It was a great read. I actually gasp in shock and wide eyed at times. There were a lot of twist and turns. I found the book to have playful moments between the characters and lots dangerous moments. I believed in the characters and felt apart of the journey. I would recommend this book. I will definitely be on the look out for Caitlin Avery next book.

Excellent Elite universe adventure!

Very engaging novel set in the Elite universe and chronicling the exploits and adventures of Robert Garry, Federal officer-turned pirate-turned would be savior of humanity and his unlikely companion Gunn-Britt who has spent her entire life hunting and killing pirates. there are some intriguing reveals into the history of the Elite Pilots Federation and other key elements of the Elite universe. I look forward to reading more about these characters and their adventures in the future!

Fantastic book by a new author. There were times I found myself holding my breath as I read faster and faster during the fast paced action scenes.Reminds me of Mathew Riley at times but with much more rounded characters. You don't have to be a sci-fi nut to enjoy this book. There is a good back story as well as action.Angst as well as humour. Very readable and enjoyable. I look forward to the next one

Pirates and stuff

A fast paced journey around a few parts of the Elite universe, with pirates and the odd secret agent thrown in to keep things interesting.

My only complaint is that it was over too fast.

Looking forward to Frontier doing a second round of fiction and seeing another novel from John.
